Understanding Taleyo's AI credits, editing, and downloads
Which Taleyo actions use AI credits, which edits are free, and why a new generated version differs from selecting or downloading existing work.
The useful distinction is between asking AI to create a new result and working with a result that already exists. Taleyo uses credits for successfully saved generations and regenerations. Ordinary editing, selecting an existing version, and PDF downloads do not consume credits under the current published rules.
A new generated version is different from a manual edit
Changing wording yourself is not the same operation as asking AI to create another version. The current terms draft says one successfully saved generation or regeneration uses one AI credit. That distinction matters when deciding whether a small text correction needs AI at all.
Review what is already saved before generating again. Selecting an older version does not consume a credit. A different generated version is not guaranteed to be better or to resolve every creative issue, so use a specific goal for any new request.
Budget for more than the number of story pages
A complete book includes more than its story-page illustrations. The current terms describe the hero, story, cover, story illustrations, and ending as parts of the first-pass generation cost. Do not assume that an eight-page story needs only eight credits.
Use the live pricing page and the credit information shown in the app to choose a pack and leave room for intentional new versions. This guide does not freeze prices or future credit rules. Checkout and live generation are available only when enabled, and signing in does not guarantee credits or uninterrupted service.
A failed generation credit is not a cash refund
The current terms draft states that an attempt finishing unsuccessfully without a saved result has its reserved credit returned. Losing your connection does not by itself cancel an active job. Check the saved job status instead of immediately starting a different request.
A service-credit restoration and a refund of a purchase are different processes. Do not interpret one as a promise of the other. Read the current purchase and refund disclosures; the site's terms are explicitly a draft and are not a finalized legal policy.
Use a short review plan before spending again
First settle the reference, style, and main story idea. Next review the character. Then read the generated story and inspect illustrations before requesting changes. This does not guarantee a credit saving, but it helps you make each new request for a clear reason.
When the book is ready, editing and downloading remain separate from generation. Open the final PDF and check that it is the version you intended to keep. A download is not another AI generation.
- Check the current balance and displayed cost.
- Prefer a direct text edit for a simple wording correction.
- Compare saved versions before requesting another.
- Keep purchase refunds separate from generation-credit questions.
