A few ground rules for a little wonder
Let's begin
on the same page.
These are Taleyo's intended ground rules. They are a plain-language product draft, not final legal terms.
Draft — pending operator and legal review.01. Grown-ups only
You must be 18 or older and a parent, guardian, or otherwise authorized adult to use Taleyo's creation portal. Use your own adult Google account and keep it secure. Children must not operate the portal, upload information, or interact with its AI features. Exported PDFs can be read together offline.
This adult-only portal and offline-PDF model are intended boundaries, not a legal conclusion that the use case is permitted under OpenAI's under-18 guidance. Counsel must review the actual product, audience, and access controls. Live generation must not be enabled if the provider's requirements cannot be met.
02. Account AI credits
Real AI generation is available only to signed-in adult accounts when live generation is enabled. Signing in does not guarantee AI credits or uninterrupted availability.
One successfully saved generation or regeneration uses one AI credit. A complete new book uses 12 credits for 8 story pages, 16 for 12 pages, or 20 for 16 pages: hero + story + cover + every story illustration + ending. Saving, editing, selecting an old version, navigation, and PDF export do not consume credits.
Credits are service entitlements, not stored money: they cannot be transferred, withdrawn, or exchanged for cash. Service capacity, introductory credits, and future credit costs may change with clear notice. Nothing offers unlimited rerolls, uninterrupted service, or a right to free future services.
Credit checkout is prepared but disabled by default. When available, packs are one-time purchases in USD, with applicable tax shown at Lemon Squeezy checkout. There is no subscription. The pricing page shows the current offer; prices labeled as planned after launch are future intentions, not former prices. Feedback is optional and is not a condition of launch pricing.
A refunded purchase reverses its purchased credits. If some were already used, future credits first settle that balance. Partial refunds, suspected payment fraud, and unexpected duplicate payments require support review and can pause new generation and checkout. Editing and downloads remain available. Returning a failed generation credit is not a cash refund.
These technical rules do not establish a final refund or cancellation policy or limit mandatory consumer rights. Live sales require reviewed eligibility, cancellation and refund terms, credit-expiry rules, operator support contact details, and required consumer disclosures. This draft must be finalized before accepting real payments.
03. Bring only what you have permission to use
You must have the necessary rights and permissions for the text, names, and required live character reference you submit, and any family or personal photos saved through the earlier family-page feature. This includes appropriate authority to use information about a child. Do not upload a photo of another child without the necessary permission.
Do not submit unlawful material, sensitive identifying information, or material that violates someone else's rights. Do not impersonate someone, request copies of protected characters or branded worlds, bypass safeguards, or interfere with the service. A fictional nickname and a general description are a good starting point.
You retain any rights you already hold in your inputs. Operating the service requires processing those inputs and supplying relevant content to its processors. The precise service license and any output-use terms require legal review. AI output may not be unique or eligible for copyright protection; Taleyo does not promise exclusive ownership or infringement-free results.
04. AI helps. An adult has the final say.
Generated stories and illustrations can contain mistakes, inconsistent characters, unexpected details, or content that does not suit your family. Review every page and image before sharing or reading the book with a child. The service is a creative tool, not educational, developmental, medical, or therapeutic advice.
Generation may fail, take longer than expected, or need another attempt. There is no guaranteed delivery time, promised photo likeness, or assured character consistency. An intentional new version reserves one AI credit and is not guaranteed to resolve every creative issue. When an attempt finishes unsuccessfully without saving a result, its reserved credit is returned automatically. Reconnecting or resending the same queued request does not reserve another credit. Losing your connection alone does not cancel an active job: we check its saved status rather than starting it again. An abandoned job is settled after its timeout. Previously failed attempts may need support review if no refund is recorded.
The landing page's fictional fox and forest, space, and ocean illustrations are original SVG samples. Local test-book endings use theme-matched bundled sample artwork, not AI-generated output or evidence of AI visual relevance or quality. These samples are not customer books or testimonials. Book-spine and cover mockups are visual illustrations, not evidence of a physical product.
05. Digital books, with your finishing touches
After hero approval, Create my story builds the story text, cover, every story illustration, then an automatic wordless epilogue. The ending uses the complete narrative, approved hero artwork, and final story illustration to guide continuity, not to guarantee it. The journey remains Your hero, Your story, and Review & download; there is no separate ending stage.
You can review available pages, edit the text, choose available layouts, add a dedication, and export a digital PDF. Text edits and PDF exports do not invoke image generation. They do not consume AI credits. Every image generation or reroll is a separate one-credit action subject to the account balance.
The ending is prompted to contain no lettering. Its preview and PDF page display artwork only, with no added text, caption, title, footer, page number, or “The End.” Optional ending instructions are art direction, not a printed caption. Regenerating the ending is optional and uses one AI credit; previous versions remain in its history and selecting one uses no AI credit. Story edits do not automatically repaint the ending.
Eight story pages plus a cover, dedication, and ending make 11 PDF pages; a blank dedication is omitted. New books require the ending before export. Older books created without that requirement remain exportable without an ending or an automatic credit charge. You can explicitly request an ending for one AI credit once their required story artwork is complete. Previously saved family-photo pages are no longer included in PDF exports.
Taleyo does not currently sell, print, or ship physical books. A PDF export is not promised to be print-ready, color-proofed, or compliant with a commercial printer's trim, bleed, resolution, or production specifications. Check any intended printing requirements independently.
Books and their generated illustrations have no automatic expiry. They stay saved until you delete the book or your account. Keep an exported copy as a backup, especially before deleting a book or your account. You are responsible for copies you download and where you share them.
06. Read the privacy limitations first
Story writing shares the relevant brief, instructions, narrative, and generated story with OpenAI, while separate OpenAI model calls review the inputs and outputs. Illustration generation and review send the relevant narrative and visual references to OpenAI. The temporary character photo is prepared through Cloudinary and sent to OpenAI. Saved family photos from the earlier family-page feature are not sent to AI, including for the ending.
OpenAI API inputs and outputs are not used for training by default, but abuse-monitoring logs may retain customer content for up to 30 days unless approved controls apply. Taleyo sets store: false for story-writing and review Responses requests; that setting does not apply to Images API requests. Provider configuration must be verified by the operator.
A 24-hour R2 raw-photo lifecycle still needs to be configured and verified. This applies to temporary character references, not saved family photos. New family-page creation controls are removed, but previously saved photos remain private until explicitly removed or the book is deleted, including scheduled book deletion. In the cover editor's Words tab, choose Remove saved family page, then save to remove the stored photo. Excluding it from a new PDF is not deletion.
These controls do not guarantee immediate or universal deletion. Deleting a stored Taleyo copy does not automatically erase processor-side records, backups, generated likenesses, or previously exported PDFs. Sanitizing a photo does not anonymize its subject. No automatic anonymization or zero-retention promise is made.
Read the privacy draft before sharing real personal data. If operator and privacy-request contact details have not been provided, do not share personal data and contact the site operator for clarification.
07. A service that is still growing
Features, availability, and access may change or be paused while issues are resolved. This draft does not create a service-level or permanent-storage guarantee. It also does not waive any mandatory rights you may have under applicable law.
Before wider launch or implementing live purchases, the operator must publish verified identity and contact information, legally reviewed service terms, the privacy notice, appropriate consumer disclosures, and operational support and deletion processes. Any paid offer additionally needs reviewed payment and refund handling. This draft does not invent the missing jurisdiction-specific policies.
For an issue with Taleyo, contact the site operator. Do not send sensitive child-related information through an unverified support channel.
